Back in 2019, The Sims 4 gave builders the best gift ever. A build mode cheat, often referred to as the hidden objects cheat, unlocked over 1000 new environment objects. These objects feature all the objects you see in your Sims’ lives every day. From forks and spoons to planters and pots. This Sims 4 build catalogue has everything.

Using The Sims 4 hidden objects cheat can be a little bit annoying, though. Some of the objects aren’t named properly. Many are just called “debug”. There’s an option to filter by these objects in The Sims 4 build catalogue – and you can use **DEBUG** in the build search bar to find most of them, but if you’ve never used build cheats in The Sims, it might be a bit overwhelming.

But worry not, intrepid Simmer, we’re here to help. We are in the process of compiling a Sims 4 build catalogue with each one of the objects featured in debug cheats (there are loads). But before we get that passion project wrapped up, we’re going to be running a series of articles featuring some of our favourite objects to get using The Sims 4 build mode hidden objects cheat.

We’re hoping to make it easier to find the objects you are looking for in debug mode, by compiling the catalogue in a way that makes your favourite hidden objects easier to find if they are not named. If, for example, your favourite nameless piece of clutter appears next to something named BasterGEN_01, you’ll know what to search for to find it faster.

If you’re new to build mode cheats or new to The Sims 4, here’s a cheeky tip: many of the objects you find through the debug build mode cheats are free – meaning if your Sim is pinching pennies, they can still have a great garden without spending a fortune.

How to use The Sims 4 debug hidden objects build mode cheats

To start, enter build mode (obviously).

To open The Sims 4 cheat console, press CTRL + SHIFT + C on your keyboard if you’re on a PC and Command + SHIFT + C if you’re on a mac.

In the cheat console bar, type in:

bb.showhiddenobjects

and press enter. Then type in

bb.showliveeditobjects

and press enter.

Now, let’s get debugging, shall we? We’re going to try keep these articles vaguely themed. So, since we’re all preparing for the new Eco Lifestyle expansion pack, we’ll focus largely on gardening objects for this one.

If you have a lot of packs, you might want to consider using the filter. We’re only looking at base game objects for these tutorials. But if you have other packs, you’ll see loads more stuff.

This screen is the prefect start because it features several great gardening objects you can find using The Sims 4 hidden object debug cheat. The watering can, broom, fertaliser, bug spray can and even a lattice arch and several plant slides can all be found here.

These hidden objects are ideal for The Sims 4 builders who love to add the finer details to their builds with bits of clutter.

Using Sims 4 debug cheats for fruit trees and a Cowplant

But wait, it gets better. Using The Sims 4 debug cheats in build mode also allows you to find fruit trees as well as the cowplant and a cowplant berry. The fruit trees are named as you’d expect them to be. There are, however, a few variants. Some can only be placed in planters, others won’t be a full tree when placed. You’ll have to sift through them to find the right one for your needs.

You can also find flowers using the debug cheat in The Sims 4 build mode, but they appear as flowers not as plants. Useful for clutter or flower arrangements, though.

There are plenty of other world objects like planters, trees and flowers for you to decorate your garden with for free.
